Opening Gateways with Nature Worship
Isn't it logical that if you are having issues with members of the spirit realm you would ask someone of the spirit who is much greater to aid and protect you? To petition a greater and stronger spirit being like God to protect you from an ancient evil rather than a few smouldering leaves?
Now there are many who burn sage because that's what everybody on the ghost hunting/paranormal shows does it, or one of the many dubious "experts" on the paranormal told them to, and naively they obeyed without so much as a 2nd guess.
But really what is it you are doing? It's Nature Worship,
Practicing the art of worshiping the spirit of a plant/animal/geographical location and offering obeisance or beseeching it to give you something, protection, crops, treasure, you name it. Nature worship is as old as the hills so I won't spend much time explaining it, but for those who don't know how to use Google I will say, basically it boils down to worshiping the creation instead of the creator.
In addition to this just not being an effective way to protect yourself from the preternatural, you are adding insult to injury. By practicing the act of nature worship you are saying to the spirit world, "I don't need God."
It's like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.
The act of rejecting God and taking it upon yourself thinking you have the power to attempt to fix the mess or that you know better, is what opens the gateway for all types of elements of the netherworld into your life. Being proud enough to say "I have the power! I will fix this." is how you make yourself vulnerable. A little plant that goes good with beef or lamb is not going to do the trick and has no power.
Oh and a side note, if you are seeking a priest or Pastor to exorsize your house and you tell them you smudged/saged, There are very many who will refuse to help you since you are a practicing pagan already anyhow. Right?
In all honesty during the twenty odd years I was a practicing witch/vodou novice I burned bushels of the stuff and it never did a thing for me. The only time in my life I have ever had any protection from the spirit world began just a few years ago after I came to learn the truth about God. Believe me I tried everything and looked under every rock before that and absolutely none of it was ever effective in keeping me safe.
So the moral of the story is.... you either ask God for help or you try your luck on the fickel spirits & whatever else is out there masqerading as Mother Nature and her "elementals".
Regardless of how convincing or sincere people are at mixing a little nature worship into their watered down faith in God, ..."No man can serve two masters."
Rebecca
For Christians who think it's ok to do a little nature worship you need to be reminded of God's thoughts on this:
Isaiah 44:14-20 "14 He cut down cedars...
15 It is used as fuel for burning;
some of it he takes and warms himself,
he kindles a fire and bakes bread.
But he also fashions a god and worships it;
he makes an idol and bows down to it.
16 Half of the wood he burns in the fire...
17 From the rest he makes a god, his idol;
he bows down to it and worships.
He prays to it and says,
“Save me! You are my god!”
18 They know nothing, they understand nothing;
their eyes are plastered over so they cannot see,
and their minds closed so they cannot understand.
19 No one stops to think,
no one has the knowledge or understanding to say,
“Half of it I used for fuel;
I even baked bread over its coals,
I roasted meat and I ate.
Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left?
Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
20 Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him;
he cannot save himself, or say,
“Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?”
"For you shall worship no other god..."
"Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
"...Jesus answered.... Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
"...serve him in truth with all your heart..."
"Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them..."
"Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works...."
